GKN Hybrid Power is part of GKN plc, a £9.7BN diversified engineering group They specialise in the design and manufacture of composite flywheel-based energy storage systems. Formerly known as Williams Grand Prix Engineering, GKN acquired the business in 2014. GKN Hybrid Power is focused on bringing its innovative flywheel energy storage systems to the mass transit market (electric hybrid buses, city tramways) and progressing its sports car racing projects through to further track successes.
The assignment brief was to seek a high-caliber engineer who was able to head up the entire electronics division of the business. The requirement represented specific challenges in program management, skills resource and approvals. A very specific set of technical, organizational and process related skills would be required to achieve success in this ground-breaking area of emergent renewable technology.
